Budgie male or female?

They are both male because the cere is blue. Adult males have blue Ceres while females can have any combination of pink, white and/or tan. When they are babies it's harder to tell because they kind of switch.Males will have a pinkish cere with a slightly purple undertone while females usually are blue with a bit of white. But since your budgies are obviously not babies (maybe not adults but not babies) because the bars on their heads are gone. If you still aren't sure you can take them to the vet to get sexed, but I've never seen an adult female with a blue cere. Also watch how they act. Every animal has it's own personality, but with with parakeets females are usually a bit more aggressive, bossy and in control. Males almost always get along great and love to sing with each other and preen each other. So those are some other ways to know. But from what I can see it is a male

They are both male. The cere (above the beak) is blue. Female budgies have brown ceres. Put a stone perch in the cage as the toenails look long. This wears them down without risking scissors.

I just got a pair of budgies of a friend that couldnt look after them any more. He said that the blut one is the male and the yellow one is the female, but ive been doing some research and im not so sure. The yellow one cere looks purplish light bluey. Not the best pic but if you can zoom in. He also but a breeding box on the cage and said he has only has them 4 months! But on the Internet they have pics of them with the rings round the eyes aged 8-12 months so im guessing there around that age.. but not sure. Any info would be great, first time of owning budgies. Owner of a green cheek conure :).
