Can a bird move it's baby from the nest?

This past weekend we had to cut down a tree in our backyard because it was rotten. We didnt think any baby birds were in there but once the tree was on the ground we found three little baby birds on the ground i put them in a birdhouse that was in my backyard and a bird recently had babies in it so there was a nest and the mother is still taking care of the baby birds after i moved them i don't know if that story will help but if the baby fell out it might be possible that the mother put it somewhere safe

I was outside yesterday and heard a ton of chirping and two finches flying back and forth from a tree in my back yard. I went over to see what the commotion was and come to find out an egg had hatched.

I went out there today to check and the nest was empty. No baby and no other egg.

My question is, can a bird like a tiny finch move the baby and egg to another nest? Or did a predator come along and eat them?

Thanks!
