Do earthworms dream?

Earthworms have only a few ganglion cells to serve as a brain and as a result, can only ferform basic tasks like homeostasis (for it's small body) and movement. Dreaming involves several millions of ganglia cells and so only organisms with more complex nervous systems like Humans, dogs an cats (among many others) can perform such a complex task.

Earthworms barely have a brain. They don't need much intelligence to eat dirt. Their nervous system center is not nearly complex enough to dream.

It depends on what would you define "consciousness". For my standards, they aren't.
