Found an injured bird?

Sadly often injured birds don't live for very long due to stress and fear.

At your place can you put it in a box, a dark place, away from noise and constant checking. This could help keep it calm if it has a chance.

While it's stressed and hurt it probably won't eat or drink.

Take it a day at a time. You could be the next wildlife carer.

I found an injured bird on my walk home. It LOOKS like a fledgling, but I could be wrong. It can barely stand up, and it keeps falling on its back and side and kicks one of its legs and breathes heavily. there's a scrape on its wing on the joint and I can see a little bone I think. I read up on a lot about it to see if I should return it where I found it, or turn it over to a wildlife rescue. It looks like it's just a finch though, or another really small, really popular, normal bird. I don't know if a wildlife center will take it. (A lot of them are listed as specialty bird rehab centers). The closest bird rescue place is a half an hour away. Should I put the bird back, or take it to rescue?

The bird is a grey/brown colour with blue under the wings btw. It has a short tail and fluffy feathers for the most part. I don't see any blood, but obviously something is wrong since it wont move and cant sit up properly.
