It is not illegal, you must make sure that the cow is full grown and mature, if not she will not be able to hold you and that would definitely be animal cruelty. Also, you'll just have to get to know the cow and when she is older you will be able to tell if she thinks it is comfortable with you on her back. If she is obviously distressed and uncomfortable when you are on her that would obviously be cruel. ALSO, do NOT put a saddle on her, that is very much animal cruelty because they do not fit on cows and it is very painful for the cow if you put a saddle on her. But overall, no it is not animal cruelty nor illegal, your friend doesn't know what she's talking about. Hope I helped :)
Depends on the definition you're using for "ride". If you mean sexually, yes, there are laws against that.
your friend meant beastiality. Riding an actual cow though is boring, and they're slow. theyr'e pretty violent sometimes too. they get scared easily so you can't ride on cows anyway.
