How to Convince My Mom/?

I am an owener of 4 parakeets, well now i own 2 because 2 of them died due to natural causes :(

You are wrong, they can be extremeley loud and annoying, i love my birds but they get wayy too loud.

If your going to get a parakeet you have to get two, parakeets get very lonely, if you want a bird that would do fine with being alone i reccomend a parrot, cockateil or cockatoo.

They are a lot work you need to blow out their food from shells of the food every 2-3 hours, put iodine in their water (iodine prevents brain cancer) Let them be out of the cage and play for 15-30 minutes everyday, because they NEED excercise. You cannot leave them in the cage all day long, they need to move, and it get boring for them, Clip their wings and claws every 2months (unless your fine with them flying around) Make sure who have no other pets in the house like cats, dogs should be fine.

Training them is a lot harder than it seems.

They are expensive when you first buy them too i spent 130 dollars getting all the supplies for them.

Cages, toys, food, millet( millet is a birds favorite snack, highly reccomend you buy it) grit (grit is something you must buy because it helps them digest.

Dont put too many toys in the cage, one or two is enough.

Parakeets are great birds, but are a lot of work, and i know my answer is a little negative but im just trying to prepare for owning one :)

Tell your mom that youll keep it your room as far as noise, BY THE WAY, parakeets do come wiht bird mites, just like dogs come with fleas, so make sure to let him play in water often. NOT BATHE DO NOT BATHE, just play around in it:)

hope this answer helps

Source: Owner of parakeets for years

Sit with her and ask her why she doesn't want one. Back her reason(s) up with positive things. Example: if she says because they're too messy you could back it up saying "bigger birds like cockatoos are a lot messier" if that is the case promise her you'll clean after it and take responsibility for it.

P.S Sometimes bird can be really messy but if you really it...I'd say it's worth it :)

also if this would Be your first bird good choice. Parakeets/Budgies are really good beginner birds.

Really hope this helps Good luck :)

Tell her you promise to take good care of it. And tell her the tasks you've been doing. Remind how responsible you are and maybe keep the a

Parrot in your room if it gets to loud or train it to be quiet. Or maybe consider a different animal. Good luck (:

Good thing you been helping around the house.

Maybe she is against birds in cages.

why do you want one? is it because "they are cute and you can teach them tricks" ? or some more rational, grown up reason? Does she herself object to caged birds? what are her thoughts, feelings and opinions about keeping a caged bird? did she have one herself at your age, or other pets?

maybe if you find out that, you might get a better understanding of what you're up against

Tell her how the house will sound when you have a bird! My parakeet sings all day and it's so pretty. You can also teach parakeets to talk or say things if you train them hard enough. They are really cheap to take care of and you don't have to take them to the vet. (unless something is seriously wrong, obviously) Hope everything works out!

Look i had this problem alot than you my mom is very negative with things so i had to convince her about getting my 2 budgies so i showed her some awesome vids of budgies in youtube belive me this is the way i convinced my mom to buy me and i had to make her crazy so i kept repeating mom mom iwant them then she said okay okay lets go get 2 budgies but promise me that you will take care of them and there you go

I am 14 and really want a parakeet. I am showing her I am more responsible by doing tasks without asking (like vacuuming, sweeping, putting stuff away, etc). I gave her a book under her pillow about what parakeets eat, when they eat, what they need, how much cages are, and offered to pay for all of it. I sat her down and talked about it. I am trying to come up with things to prove her wrong (like why she doesn't want one) but all she tells me is "I don't want one". They are not annoying and loud, and inexpensive, and they are cute and you can teach them tricks. I have done everything I can think of..please help!
