I Found A Baby Bird & Idk What To Do ! It's Hungry And Animal Control Is Closed. A Nearby Animal Hospital Said There

First off, baby birds that young should NOT be given water. It is quite possible that they will inhale it and die. They get enough moisture from there food, which, varies depending on the kind of bird it is. This is a good website to help you identify what kind of bird you found: http://www.2ndchance.info/babybirdphotos...

Once you identified it, you can go to this website, which tells you how to properly care for it: http://www.2ndchance.info/insecteater.ht...

The bird needs to be kept warm. Keep it at a temperature of about 90 degrees Fahrenheit then drop the temp. by 5 degrees every week until he/she is fully feathered; then the bird can be kept at room temperature. Do this by using a cardboard box lined with tissues, paper towels or old rags. Then, set the box halfway on a heating pad so that the bird can be near the heat, or not. An old incubator would also work well. If you don't have any of these things, you can just place the bird in a cardboard box with some kind of bedding (tissues etc.) and then put a hot water bottle wrapped in a very thin towel next to it. Get it as warm as you can without burning your skin. This must be changed every 30 minutes at the most for the first week or so. If you think that it is any kind of songbird, (scientifically known as a passerine) you can feed it Kaytee Exact, Baby Bird Hand Feeding Formula through a syringe. You can purchase this at your local pet or feed store. The directions are on the back, make sure to follow them closely. However if it is not a songbird, there will be recipes for feeding it in the article attached to the 2d link I inclosed.

I hope this helps!!!

P.S. Don't feed it bread, as it has no nutritional content that the bird can use. And because of the exceptionally fast rate at which a baby bird grows, everything it eats needs to be FULL of nutrition, vitamins and minerals. Please do plenty of research (starting with these websites) BEFORE you attempt to care for or feed it. The absolute best thing you can do for the bird is give it to someone who knows how to properly care for it and has done this before. Look up a wildlife rehabilitation center in your area as they are experienced and knowledgeable. Just go to your web browser and type: Wildlife Rehab (your area). Also, depending on where you live and what kind of bird it is, it may be illegal to keep this bird in your home. In the mean time, avoid handling it as much as possible to avoid making it tame as this will make it harder for it to survive once released back into the wild. Good luck, and I hope this helps.

Oh wow, so tiny! Go to Walmart and buy a tub of worms from the fishing department. Mash them up and use a dropper/syringe (with no needle) to insert in the baby bird's mouth. In nature, the mother would eat food and regurgitate it into their babies' mouths. Good job keeping him warm and good luck!

I read that tiny pieces of boiled egg is good.

FEED EVERY 30 MINUETS!

Never feed milk to a baby bird! For most baby birds a mixture of mynah bird pellets or dry dog food soaked in hot water, with a bit of baby food, turkey, and cooked egg yolk and a bit of water (until it is the consistency of oatmeal) will provide them with adequate nourishment. When fed this mixture baby birds will not need additional water, except maybe a few drops to rehydrate them when they first arrive. A popsicle stick or straw will work well as a feeding implement. Be sure not to over-feed baby birds, feed only until their crop on the side of heir neck appears full. Most birds, including fruit-eating birds, feed their babies insects to fuel their rapid growth. Baby birds will sleep through the night and do not need to be fed, but they should be fed before you go to bed and as soon as you wake each morning.

I agree with Lauren. I found a baby sparrow once and that was what we were instructed to do as well. Good Luck!

Do as Lauren says. Your priorities are food and warmth.

What Can I Feed It Till Animal Control Can Come Out Here And Save This Poor Babies Life ? I've Put Rice In A Sock and Heated It Up And Put Him On Top Of It To Keep Him Warm But He's So Hungry And I Dong Want Him To Die. He's Really Tiny And I Just Want To Keep Him Alive Until ASPCA Gets Here ! What Do I Do ?
