New baby Cockatiel behaviors?

Have you tried singing to him?they might find your voice relaxing.

I know that some birds can get really nervous when getting a new home.

Here's some thing that might help.

Turn on some calm music like enya

Cover all sides of his cage except one

Make sure his cage isn't under a vent, he might be cold

Talk to him all the time! Sing a little

If any discharge comes from the nose or eyes take him to the vet, he's too cold

Does he have toys in the cage, try playing with them

Hope this helps

We brought home a 4 month old Cockatiel yesterday and just wanted to check and make sure the behaviors he is displaying is normal. We and the guy who sold him to us guessed he's a boy.

His cheeks are puffed up around his beak and he is trembling/shaking. I read this could be either because he is nervous or cold.

His crest is always high and up.

He's eating a lot. And likes to clean/preen himself quite a bit.

Yesterday when we asked him to step up he would like check us out with his beak and tongue. Not even biting or nipping but just like running his beak across our skin. (this was all in the pet store. we've left him in his cage since we brought him home)

He seems more grumpy today because when I asked him to step up and put my finger near his chest he nibbled at me a little. Not a hard bite but it was a little nip that didn't hurt. He had some night frights last night so we're trying to make sure tonight will go better.

He's also grinding his beak a lot. I read that he could be settling down for a nap or is relaxed when he does it. He just fell asleep as I'm typing this lol

He's also very quiet. He hasn't made a noise since the sales guy put him in a box. Is that normal for a while to?

Thanks for the help!
