Perhaps next time you get birds - you will be a good, responsible pet owner and clip the wings? Birds with clipped wings do not accidentally fly into windows, fans, or toilets and die. They also do not fly off and die of starvation....... birds learn from other birds - and that means a bird relies on it's parents to show it what to eat and what not to eat. If they have not been taught what is OK to eat - they can actually starve to death surrounded by food.
Clip your birds wings next time.
They don't come back. Some cities have established breeding populations.
Many of those areas not only allow, but encourage people to shoot them. As a birder, if I see one in the wild, I will try to get rid of it. So, yes, unfortunately they often survive.
No, i wish I had better news but they usually dont come back Im sorry. No dont worry they will not die they survive in the wild because thats there natural instinct
My sister was feeding our two parakeets outside (but still in their cage) when one of them, Kiwi, flew outside through the gap between my sister's hand and a cage bar. The other one, Sky, still stayed in the cage, but probably didn't come outside too because he is very shy. Kiwi stayed in the trees behind our house for the rest of the day, but the next day she wasn't there anymore. I urged Sky to chirp so Kiwi can answer so we know where she was, but Kiwi didn't answer.
Then, about three days later, Sky flew away too, and now we have no more birds left...
We know that Kiwi is still in the neighborhood somewhere because a neighbor told us. They have been gone for a month (?) or more now.
Our neighborhood is pretty safe. It has a few pine trees ( the ones behind ours and a few neighbors' houses) but is pretty close to the road. We have never let them out of their cage before except when they escaped once (in our house).
Will Sky and Kiwi come back? Or maybe just Kiwi? Kiwi is more trained than Sky.
