What to do about my birds while I'm away?

As long as someone gives them food and water they'll be fine. And they'll be more appreciative to see you again. Maybe put extra layers of paper on bottom to better absorb moisture.

from experience, they would be fine if you had an experienced person watching your birds. if you are located in Chattanooga, TN, then i would gladly do it for you. i mean, it's pretty fun taking care of birds. and i understand why you're so freaked out by this. last time i had someone watch my birds, when i returned, the seed that i had put in there right before i left was shredded into a fine dust. they didn't do a good job at all.

I'm going on holiday for a week and the person I had planned to watch my birds for a week cancelled on me last minute and I am stuck for what to do. my dad will be here but he doesn't like birds especially if the land on him he's just not a bird person. my cockatiel would happily just sit on his cage or wander about the place not bothering anyone but my lovebird constantly wants attention and will land on shoulders and nibble on your ears and my dad just wouldn't do it. I don't feel comfortable with them being stuck in their cage for a week it's not fair I mean wouldn't they go insane what's the longest a bird can stay in its cage? they will get food and water changed daily but they won't get human attention I have never done this before what do I do please help I'm desperate I have two weeks before I leave and don't know anyone else who can care for them? what's the longest your birds have been left in their cage?
