Why are my chickens fighting?

Sounds to me like you have roosters fighting not a hen and roo since you say they are 4 weels of age thats still young and they should be getting thir primary feathers in the sure way to tell is around 4-5 months when the roos start to crow and the hens start to lay the eggs but also by color of the crown the red fleshy part on top of the head if the two that fight have a larger crown than the others its more likely a roo it will be also a brighter red than the hens.

You say you bought a straight run which means what ever the hen hatched out is what you got and with this you can get a mixture of both roos and hens. I suggest you pen the one bird up till its feathers come back in since the roo has ripped the ones out that were there before hand its best for protection and to keep the bird from having its chest ripped open by the toes and causing an infection.

If you have straight runs you will have a number of roosters that you don't need unless you are planning on raising chicks. Hens will lay regardless of rooster. Once you can determine who is the bully I would remove it. If you don't the aggression will continue until the hen is dead.

Can i have vid please so i can see what it the fight is like?. there is a pecking order and obviously that chick is not high in the rack... try and sale it maybe?

We're relatively new at the art of chick-raising, and while I realize chick fight is normal, this just seems a bit excessive to me.

A month ago We made an impulse buy at a breeder while we were coming home from a trip. For some reason, who only knows why, we bought some day old Silkie chicks, straight run. A few weeks later we bought another straight run barred rock pullet. The silkies were exactly three weeks when she was brought here, and she was close to the their age, give a week or two.

They got along perfectly, the two silkies preferred their own company over hers, but they didn't mind her, they just didn't call for her like they did each other. They are now Five weeks old and moved into their big boy pen.

The Silkie, Nugget, is the main aggressor. He blindly attacks her, just for walking. She has been the first to attack on a few occasions, not allowing him to eat out of the feeder and driving him back to the end of the cage. They both allow Sammi free range, and don't mess with her, not even when their being aggressive over a certain item. They still sleep together, and have short moments of peaceful forage, but then the rock moves the wrong way or moves a little too close and he's back pulling feathers, using his feet, beating the crap out of her. She has a big bald spot on her chest now. Is this normal, or is Nugget one of those bullies that'll have to be kept apart from the more docile chickens?
