Parakeets are great pets, in my opinion. They're very playful and quite cute. They can get noisy, though. When I'm watching TV, mine sometimes chirps loudly but is quiet when I approach her cage. It can be a bit annoying, but it's quite rare that it happens (at least with mine) and it seems like, through my experience, you can quiet it down by giving it attention.

They make fine pets. And no they do make a lot of noise.

I have 2 dogs and they are fun to play with, but I have always wanted something small like a reptile or a bird. Last Summer my 2 cousins (both under the age of 6) got 2 parakeets. They were very nice and they did not chirp a lot. I'm not sure if they trained them or not. But my brother just moved back home and is going to work from home all summer. He has been helping me find a small pet and I want a parakeet or a bearded dragon. He says that a bearded dragon is the best bet in his opinion, because he had one back in his condo. But I know they cost a lot for the food, lighting, heating, and tank. He does not want a parakeet because he says he can not have anything loud in the house when he is working. Are they loud? My cousin's birds do not chirp much, I can barely hear them most of the time. But anyone with any experience on parakeets please help me. Are They noisy, and also, how much will the first purchase be, including the cage, food, perches, etc. Please help! I need an opinion
