Can an animal really get "punished" for committing "adultery"?

There are so many species of monkeys, I do not know all their habits.

I do know that birds, even mated birds, will often mate with another bird, but not in front of their mate. The mate would probably chase the interloper away; nothing worse than that. Animals have no concept of genetics, and will not question the paternity of a female's offspring.

It is probably similar in many species of primate; "adultery" when the mate is not watching is not a problem.

But every species is different. Still, I cannot imagine a male of most species harming his mate for any reason, though he might get angry for a short time.

In an artificial environment such as a zoo, things can be different.

Wild dogs and wolves who hunt in packs show a "pecking order" and the Alhpa, (top dog) will severly punish an offender.

Many other species mate for life..That is also a morality or rules to be followed or suffer the consequences ....

Morality evolved into Humans .....

As far as I know, God's commands are general principles. So to have God's commandments to be universal, animal's adultery is to be punished at a certain time.

Must have been Islamic monkeys

First of all, let me make it clear that this is not a joke or spam question.

I know that monkeys do very "human like" stuff like masturbation or even smoking a cigarette. But I red somewhere that there was a group of monkeys and a she monkey was among them. That she monkey went to the other male monkey and committed "adultery" with it. All of the other monkeys gathered around the she monkey and started to stone it as a form of "punishment" because she had committed "adultery" with another male monkey. I mean can you believe it? Is it even possible according to the principles of zoology to accept such a thing? Is there a scientific proof which can refute it? Does this even make any sense? I thought female monkeys mate with several different male monkeys without getting "punished" or "stoned" for committing "adultery".

Thanks.
