no, if you have an incubator-like container, but i strongly advise so. Baby birds have the feathery warmth of their mother when they hatch, but if they are in a container without their mother's warmth, they might die of the temperature, as baby birds do not know how to control their own temperatures yet. Plastic does not provide enough heat, and a heat lamp is certainly needed, unless you want to turn on the heater. Good Luck with those baby finches! :)
Don't hand feed them. It is extremely difficult. The finches won't be tame after they become adults.
You have a 1 in 25 chance of keeping any of them alive. you'll need a brooder. that's more than just a tank or bowl. Please leave the feeding to the parents. PLEASE leave the parents do all the work.
