Totally right, written for 30, dispensed as 30. I shouldn't jump to conclusions.
I was diagnosed with ADD as a teenager, and have been taking medication for it for decades.
The current doctor I have writes a prescription for 60 tablets every month for me, and has done so for years. The quantity has always been 60.
This time after receiving my prescription, I noticed a day later that the amount in the bottle seemed incredibly low, and then I saw that the quantity written on the bottle was for 30 tablets.
In case it might be a mistake (on my Dr.'s end) I emailed him and will go into his office tomorrow morning to get things straightened out- I don't want to be hasty and blame Rite Aide employees for stealing.
However, if I get written documentation/proof that the prescription was originally written for 60 tablets and that the shortage in amount is due to the pharmacy, what steps should I take?
The prescription in question is methylphenidate, and it is classifed as a schedule II drug, as it has a high potential for abuse (people use it to party, etc.).
I am really bothered at the thought of an employee stealing part of my prescription from me, and if this is the case, what are some more severe actions I can take rather than just talking to the manager? What kind of actions can I take (within the law, of course) that can let them know that I am very serious about this (or things that I can tell them I will do if the matter is not handled in a serious manner)?
Thank you in advance.
