Listen. I have seen so many animals like this, it's amazing. DO NOT leave him vulnerable there. The ABSOLUTE best thing you could do for the poor animal and get a shoebox, put a soft blanket or shirt on, carefully usher the bird inside. Then, take it somewhere quiet, cover about half the box with a blanket or something, and put a lamp over the box. Birds react incredibly to light. I've left hurt birds under light, and come home to them flying after a few hours. What will most likely happen in your situation unfortunately, is the bird will pass, but pass in a soft, warm, quiet place, if you really wanted to, you could contact a wildlife hospital, but seems like your best choice to to allow him to die peacefully. Put it out of its misery or take it to an 24 hour wild pet vet or an avian vet.

LOL no take a shovel or blunt object and smack it it will quickly put it's life to an end and put it out of its misery

I was on my bike and I found a bird lying on the side of the sidewalk. I thought it was a Volture at first but it didn't fly away when I drove past so I thought it was hurt and I walked up to it to find out that it's head was turned completely upside down. It was trying to move and was not paralyzed and was calling to it's mother. I left hoping that eventually it would be out of its misery. I came back 3 hours later and it was about a foot away from where it was last time I saw it and it was still ALIVE! I felt so bad leaving it to die again. I'm wondering if there was anything I could have done. The local animal hospital wouldn't treat a wild bird right? It's probably still alive so any help would be gratley appreciated. I just am feeling so bad leaving it for dead.i have included a picture of the bird also.
