I found a orange lizard in my closet is it dangerous or can it bite?

The only venomous lizards in the entire world are the Gila monster and its close relative the Mexican beaded lizard. The Gila monster is the only one of the two found in the USA. It is found in the states of Arizona, Utah and New Mexico. It also ranges into southeastern California and southern Nevada. Unless you live in one of these states, you are not likely to encounter a Gila monster.

I know that bright colored reptiles are usually poisonous. Or it's probably a salamander, and the salamanders I'm familiar with are slightly poisonous. Colorful geckos aren't though. The best thing to is upload a picture so people will see what we're talking about. Until you know for sure, I'd stay away.

I take it that it is a little bitty thing that could barely hurt and literally eat a fly. It has a mouth and could bite...but it certainly won't hurt. It will most likely want to scoot away from you as fast as it can.

Brightly colored insects and lizards are usually either bad tasting or poisonous. The color, highly visible to birds, is nature's way of saying "Go ahead, make my day".

I wouldn't touch it, if I were you.
