The picture is a female budgie. if it doesn't look like this on its beak, then I think you have a male.

Recessive pieds are slightly harder to sex as the cere in males is some times not as blue as normal budgies.
If it is a female and over 3 years old it would have come in to breeding condition and the cere would change to brown.If the cere has never changed to brown,then you have got a male.
I have a recessive pied budgie who is yellow with some bright green on its stomach and lower back. When I bought the bird the breeder thought it was a male but then everyone told me it was female. It is now about three and a half years old and I'm not 100% sure. I can't tell whether the cere is tan or pink. I emailed the president of budgerigar society and by the pictures he guessed it was a **** bird. I had someone come over and upon first sight he thought that the bird was male but then he felt the pelvic bones and said they were quite wide apart so he then changed his mind to thinking it was a hen bird. I'm so confused and I just want to know what it is. Thank you for your time...
