Just be patient. It will just take a bit longer for him to gain enough confidence and trust to come out of his cage. It is probably a little scary for him as he is being asked to go from a cage that he sees as safe and secure to an unknown place that is bigger and could hold a threat. He will eventually come to understand that it is safe outside the cage as well.
I would try to do that everyday until he gets used to it
