No death has ever been recorded from any tarantula bite.
But P Regalis is one of the more painful ones
You probably agitated it without realizing it. Just like with dogs or cats you need to learn to read a tarantula's body language. If it is signaling that it is agitated, then give it some space until it relaxes. Also, like other animals, tarantulas can become more aggressive when they are hungry, thirsty, or looking for a mate. So if you haven't fed it recently, then you should probably wait to handle it until you have done so.
