I set up a bird feeder in the middle of the woods hoping to observe chickadees, and they didn't come for some days while I was there. Part of it is that the seed needs to be very visible; at least until they associate that building with food. Hanging one of those bricks of bird seed will attract birds to the garden, so I think the first step is letting them know that there is food there, then try to put a platter right out in the open infront of the birdhouse. Then, when it's fairly popular, dump it into the birdhouse (they watch these things, trust me.) and they'll start to go there
I recently bought a birdhouse and changed it to my liking to put food in it. Also I added a place where I can put my GoPro to film them. I have been waiting and have not seen one bird come to it yet. I am using songbird food and adding some other nuts and food. Any suggestions on how to attract birds?
